Industry veteran sees inter-company platforms as the next generation of systems to support agile demand-supply networks
Oakland, CA, April 13, 2010 —
GT Nexus today announced the appointment of Léo Apotheker to its board of directors. Apotheker, a software industry veteran, most recently served as CEO at SAP AG. Over the course of his more than twenty-year tenure at SAP he played a leading role in vaulting that company to its position as the largest business software applications company in the world. He was a member of the executive board at SAP from 2002 to February 2010, and currently also serves on the board of directors at Schneider Electric SA.
“The next wave in business software is going to be network platforms like GT Nexus,” said Apotheker. “These newer cloud-based systems were designed to go beyond the bounds of a single enterprise and connect entire trading communities — which is what ultimately enables highly agile business networks. GT Nexus is at the forefront of this revolution, a leader with a proven track record, and they’re focused on one of the biggest opportunities around: global trade and logistics.”
GT Nexus provides the on-demand technology platform and Web-based software solutions to automate hundreds of trade and logistics processes across the global supply chain. Its state-of-the-art technology supports the processes between companies and enables community collaboration on a global scale, on a single platform instance delivered in the cloud.
“We are very excited and pleased to have Léo with us,” said Aaron Sasson, chairman and CEO of GT Nexus. “His industry experience and knowledge will be huge assets for us as we expand and continue building traction as the mission-critical infrastructure that companies rely on for global trade.”
