GT Nexus today announced that it has been selected by Independent Container Line (ICL) to provide transactional e-commerce services to global customers through the GT Nexus Trade and Logistics Portal. ICL will integrate its back office systems with the Portal to enable Web-based paperless business transactions with shipper and forwarder customers around the world.
“ICL recognizes that global customers put a premium on advanced technology,” said John Urban, GT Nexus president. “Customers want to simplify their interactions with partners through automation and ICL is now part of our growing carrier network. We welcome them to the GT Nexus community.”
The GT Nexus trade and logistics portal combines two things – strategic business applications; and a network of carriers, 3PLs, banks and suppliers. All services are delivered on-demand, over the Web, which allows customers to get up and running quickly and cost effectively. Carriers only need to integrate with the GT Nexus portal once, and can then use that single standardized interface to exchange business information with thousands of global customers.
Established in 1985, Independent Container Line is a world-class steamship line headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. They provide international container transportation between Northern Europe and the East Coast of the United States. Through a network of affiliated companies that offer specialized transportation solutions, the ICL Group is able to provide complete supply chain services from origin to destination.
