Standardized ocean rates and agreements stored and managed in central online hub
Basel, Switzerland and Hamburg, Germany, November 03, 2009 —GT Nexus today announced that Panalpina has successfully rolled out a global transportation rate management hub on the GT Nexus Trade and Logistics Portal. Delivered as a hosted service over the Web, the platform is the central repository for transportation contracts and rates representing over 1.2 million TEUs of containerized shipments that Panalpina is managing globally for its customers.
The platform supports all of Panalpina’s global ocean trade lanes, across all carriers that Panalpina works with. The entire platform is provided on-demand over the Internet. Panalpina did not need to buy and install any software, and the platform was up and running in about 8 weeks.
“Panalpina is a leading global 3PL that strives to use technology to get better at what they do,” said Andy Stinnes, VP and Managing Director of GT Nexus Europe. “They evaluated our experience in working with global 3PLs and ocean carriers and quickly recognized the value potential. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the Panalpina team.”
