Lenovo's Supply Chain Reboot
Since acquiring IBM's PC business ten years ago, Lenovo has grown voraciously, expanding into the server business, the smartphone business, and into markets worldwide. To keep pace, the company has had to focus on supply chain agility and supply chain visibility while also controlling costs. Lenovo has taken a 3-pronged strategy: using its existing supply chain systems, reworking its network, and using its logistics partners and transportation carriers. This strategy relies on using GT Nexus, its key supply chain visibility tool, in a broader and more sophisticated way. Lenovo uses GT Nexus to refine the way it receives shipment information and assigns priorities.
